Lady Boy

Ladyboy was born to the insistent sound of new punk music, partly as a tribute to Vivienne Westwood. It’s about her ability to combine unlikely elements and her constant ability to shock and delight. On the day when Mark and I originally undertook the fragrant journey, he’d asked me to name a scent that I admired professionally. That scent was Boudoir, the first by Vivienne Westwood.

Ladyboy isn’t a tribute scent to Boudoir and it doesn’t have anything in common with it. Mark wanted, in the best spirit of Westwood, to work with some very unusual notes and put them together. The idea came from New Punk and how that moved Punk on to its next incarnation.

He’d shown me Ladyboy in the early days but he wasn’t happy with it at first and contemplated discarding it. I didn’t agree. It had such an unusual hit of ripe fruit without being overpowering. The new punk idea had evolved, in a very interesting way.

So, who is Ladyboy? He’s a beautiful boy who’s comfortable and at ease with his feminine side. It will appeal to him for being very new, and of the moment.

Ladyboy is a person who has no history, the past is something to move on from. He’s always looking for the next new thing. He’s very now. Ladyboy is trendy with an upbeat personality and is always looking for the thrill of the new. New bars, new clubs, new restaurants. And the latest in movies and music. He’s usually a self-confessed fashion victim.

The secret of Ladyboy lies in a new combination of ingredients. Fruit bowl notes come from banana absolute, which, it’s believed, has not been used in a perfume before. Violets have a deep slightly sweet smell, nothing like those little crystalline pieces of violet that you see on chocolates. Combine with seaweed and the effect it gives is a very clean, just-scrubbed contrast.

Smell this one and breathe deeply. Be reminded of your friend or lover. This is a scent that will forever remind you of its wearer.
