Customer Review:
It was worth waiting for, my hair is thick curly and permed (to open up my very tight frizzy curls). whenever I washed my hair, no matter how many products I used, I couldn't wear my hair down for a good few days because of the frizz and lack of definition of the curls. Now I wash may hair, slap the King of mods (mixed with another product) and now I can wear my hair down and go out because my curls are defined, shaped and bouncy. I do find it expensive though, one tub of 100 grams lasts me 2-3 washes and I wish they will make bigger tubs to make it more economical. saying that, it is worth every penny :o)

My blow drier is my hair's best friend (my hair just doesn't look right when it dries "naturally") and King of the Mods is its perfect companion. I just use a pea sized amount (mostly on the ends) of my long damp hair before blow drying and it my hair never looked this healthy (of course it's mainly because of Lush shampoos and conditioners), but this gel really prevents heat damage:)
this is fab for keeping my brand new fringe in place, and for audrey hepburn style 'up-dos'. smells gorgeous too. but it make my hair greasy if i use even the slightest bit too much. still fab overall though.
I was a little dubious about trying this, but soo glad I did! You only need a small amount, beware of using too much or you may find your hair gets greasy. It's great for my short choppy style, and the first time I used it everyone commented on how great my hair smelled.
In a word . . . AWESOME! My hair is quite long and ha s a tendency to go quite flat and lank as I work in a hot environement, not to my mention my dry ends. I put this in my damp hair befor blow drying and twelve hours later it still has bounce, shine and softness - not to mention the fact that the smell is to die for. I love this product - definately a keeper!!rn
I was a bit wary about using a "gel" on my hair, as I hate that crunchy, gluey look. But this is a joy to use. Soft, creamy, and nourishing, it controls my waves and curls without weighing my hair down or making it stiff. A little goes a long way, and the zesty smell is perfect for waking me up in the mornings! rnSome people have had grease problems using this product - only use a small amount on the lengths and ends, and your hair will love you for it!
I just used this for the first time and I am in love! My hair smells so much like lemon sherberts I keep draping my hair over my face just to smell it and feel like a little kid again. Must buy some lemon sherberts...Lush has made me crave sweets. Oh yes, and it's nice to my hair and great for scrunching my waves and making the frizz submit :D
Smells absolutely lovely but made my hair look very greasy, so I don't use it any longer. rnrnrn
So i guess you may as well get the stronger hold for the same price, you'd think, but actually the stronger ones make your hair stiff, so if its bouncy volume you want, go for this product. I recently had a bad cut: too many layers, which makes it look flat and horrible, but rubbing a blob of this into wet hair, drying upside down, and smoothing a little bit through the rest, makes it neat, shiny, bouncy and gave me some much needed volume. thanks! :)
I use this to protect my hair when I straighten it and it works brilliantly, now my hair doesn't fry to a frisp whenever I make it straight and soft. Now my hair feels replenished, soft, with a healthy shine, it's got its mojo back. And when I finish with it I use the tub as a container for my jungle conditioner.
Love it!!! Leaves my hair soft and shiny, and it keeps it under control. Which is a miracle, becuase my hair is tight ringlets and frizz most of the time!!! I love the smell, but it isn't overwhelming and doesn't give me a headache - as most perfumes do. Doesn't make my hair greasy, I don't have to wash it everyday anymore!! Great product, would definately recommend!
I never used styling products as my hair looked good only on the first day and my scalp was feeling itchy so i had to wash them again, but this one is GREAT and now I cannot live without it!!! plus hair stay soft and lasts for days. And the smell.... oh that gorgeous smell :D
this is so so so amazing!rnI have fine wavy/curly hair, most everything weighs it down, but not this!! I use New shampoo, then smooth on some Big as a conditioner (strange I know), and then after towel drying, I work in just a pea size amount of this, and diffuse, and my hair is perfectly shiny and curly and wonderfulrnTHANK YOU LUSH!!
Fantastic citrus scent, smells wonderful. And feels really refreshing.
I love this product! It's defo up there with my favs. I've run out just now so i'm itching to get to my local lush to stock back up. I have bleached hair and it keeps it looking great, if anything it helps hold the colour and gives it an excellent shine! i've even managed to get my mum obsessed. The smell is amazing too, so refreshing on cold winter mornings!
It's like perfume for your hair. Frankly, I couldn't care if it makes my hair look better or not. It smells SOOOO good!
I love this product. It sorts out my frizz and leaves my hair soft shiny and managable. I use a dollop on wet hair dry and style it, then use a little smidge to add definition. Used in combination with ultimate shine shampoo and american cream conditioner, my hair has literally never looked this good.
I am officially joining the multitudes of fans of this great product. After struggling for years to tame my frizzy, wavy hair with straighteners and spending £XXXXXs (how much do we waste on unsuitable products???) on trying to find a solution, up pops King of the Mods. Used on wet hair, it defines and encourages my curls to return and present themselves for inspection. All good! GHDs will be much less used now as my curly bap comes out loud and proud!!!
Lovely, use on wet hair before blow drying to tame frizz and a smidge after to sort your style.
Starting using this recently, love the scent very lemony. But it really does help to make hair feel soft and a little goes a long way.
After Big, American Cream and this my hair looks absolutely fabulous - shine & volume. King of Mods smells fantastic and the texture is perfectly solid and slightly creamy.
With KoTM's thin almost watery consistancy (it feels a little like hand sanitizing gel), it makes the perfect product for smoothing and shining your style up. A tiny blob will tame a forest of frizz into a much more managable condition, leaving your hair looking and feeling amazing without it being bogged down in sticky or crusty residue. The smell is very fresh and sharp; a good wake up attack on your senses, strong slaps of lime with a whisper of grapefruit! Love it!
I've brought two pots of this. It smells absolutely delicious! I use it to stop my hair frizzing up too badly and to make it smell like lemon sherbet! Unfortunately the second pot wasn't mixed as well - but it's still lovely!
This is the best product I have ever used on my unruly, frizzy, candyfloss hair! I finger-comb it through damp hair and Hey Presto! Gorgeous soft curls which last for days and smell of lemon sherbet! I LOVE it! Only wish it came in bigger tubs!
Great as a smoothing balm as it isn't heavy and has quite a thin consistancy. The smell is reminiscent of say lemon drops with a dash of grapefruit. It makes the hair incrediably shiny and will last for ages as only a small bit is needed.
The smell is very strong and the product itself is very watery and jiggly does anyone know if you have to refridgerate this anyway not AMAZING but its alright
This product sounds great, but I'm worried the grapefruit and such will strip my colour. Has anyone used this with dyed hair??
Maybe LUSH's best product ever. Please don't ever stop making this.
smell was nice but a lil 2 strong for me...gr8 gel if hair is short...mite is a tad 2 long 4 this gel....x
I use this for scrunching the ends of my bob to give it wicked texture. It's such a yummy fragrance, especially in summer, and I doesn't have that horrible chemically feel/smell that so many other styling products do. Great stuff!
I got this in March but it didn't do much when my hair was dry except make it greasy and lanky. I was sooo disappointed but read on here somewhere to use it as a serum when your hair is wet which works loads better. I got so attatched to it I even took it on holiday with me, something I rarely do!
Love this product, i use it after washing my hair and it scents and softens my hair all day long. Awesome!rnPlus it's named after Vince Noir! lolrnxx
Love the smell of this product, sadly didn't stop my hair static problem, but my boyfriend loves it even for his short hair!
Wow, lush - what can I say?! Love the smell, and it works wonders on my hair, which is usually inclined to scruffy 'curls' or just plain frizz! Deciding to give my hair a break from the dreaded straightners, I put some of this on, scrunched it a bit, and VOILA - I had lovely, unfrizzy hair in ringlets for pretty much the first time in my life, and they stayed put all day!! Highly reccomended - thanks, Lush! :D xx
I love this, I am a huge boosh fan so decided to check this out. It smells divine and gives my hair a nice lift! It also brings back fond memory's of going to see The Mighty Boosh live as i used it just before!
Just used it for the first time but i feel I was a bit ambitious, its a bit heavy in places and feels funny but on the otherside of my head where i didnt use as much its lovely and splendid :}
This is a fabulous product,i use it with straighteners and i have found that i have less split ends...it also smells rather super...i use the other two as well....any excuse to plaster myself in lush!!1
This smells sooo yummy, just like a freshly cut lime. It's so versatile too, I either use it as a serum before blow drying or as a smoothing balm afterwards. I have straight hair and this is great to tame any fly aways or calm any static (especially in winter after wearing a hat).
i pin back my fringe some days and it holds really well all day and makes me smell of sweet lemonade :) LOVE IT!
My long, straight, fine-ish hair needs something on the ends after blow-drying to add shine and softness. Tried many serums, waxes, pommades. Often find the next day hair is lank and needs washing, and then the product WON'T wash out! KOTM smells yummy and leaves my hair glossy and smooth. Seems to add body too, instead of completely flattening my style, and hair is NOT lank the next day. Washes out completely, leaving my hair as healthy as - if not healthier than - before I applied it. Lovely!
Stunningly beautiful, uplifting scent. I use this more like a taming serum or leave-in conditioner than a gel as it does make roots look greasy if applied to them. I have been known to dab it on my wrists too although sadly the scent doesn't last all day. Love this, love Lush and love the Boosh too! xx
If happy had a smell, this would be it.rnrnIt's pretty incredible as a hair gel too.
As i wrote for "Goth Juice", this is from a show called the mighty boosh! One of the characters is the King of the Mods in an episode, and this is probably where this gel comes from. When i first saw it i couldnt believe it, but now it is clear that Lush is a fan of the Mighty Boosh!
I normally have to use a tonne of products on my hair... it has a natural kink to it, but i like to curl it and have a straight sweeping fringe.I bought the trial size and, in a rush to get to work, used just this on my wet hair and blowdried it, instead of my usual: leave-in conditioner, mousse, curling spray, volume spray, serum and shine spray, followed by lasjings of hairspray when styled.OH MY GOD to my amazement, king of the mods worked EVEN BETTER than all of thee products, my hair ha actually NEVER looked better! and I only had to use a little bit! it does the job of ALL of the above products! It held all day and was so shiny and soft, will definitely get the big pot! its a godsend! also love the name :) and it smells so so good! I may try to other two gels for different styles and see how it goes :)LOVE IT would reccomend to anyone.
I went intoa lushstore and explained that i have very dry ends as i straighten my hair alot. The girl that was helping me told me to try king of the mods, all you have to do is wash your hair as you would normally and then just put some of this on damp hair but onlythe ends, it really does work! Its made my ends alot softer. I have tried leave in conditioners before but these just make my hair greasy so i am really pleased to have found something that actually does the trick and without the greasyness.
my fave product!!!! holds gorgeously, lasts FOREVER!, smells delicious, wonder product! (note: don't use near roots as it can appear greasy, but no-where else ;) ) you'll love it! xxgiven it a 5, would give it a 1,000,000,000,000 if i could, lol :-)
This is the best hair product ever! It took me a while to figure out the best way of using it but now I have, I couldn't live without it.My hair is quite thin and gets greasy easily so I only need to use the tiniest amount. I rub it through the palms of my hands and then drag it down through my hair after I have blowed dried it. This makes my hair look like I have straightened it! The hold lasts all day and the smell is lovely.
My hair is generally quite greasy, and only Lush products seem to tame that! After trying many serum products and ending up in despair (and with crappy hair) I tried this... WOW. Number one; it smells gorgeous. Two: no residue left over... and it's just generally fab. I would defininately recommend this to anyone! Only one thing - Lush, please, please PLEASE do a bigger size? Please?
bought the trial size yesterday and am going back to tomorrow to get the full size - i love everything about it. it smells awesome and makes my hair so soft + shaped. it also acts as a great straightening balm too :)Highly reccomended by me - my best product of the year =]
I bought this for my husband, who has short and dareisayit, fluffy hair. this calms his hair so well and you can't even tell he's using product. I then read a review saying that it worked for curly hair too and i can most definately vouch for that! 'conventional' products I've tried for curly hair have tended to clump my ringlets together and make them crispy. This product though, is light but incredibly strong and holds my curls so well that they are still there the day after!Oh yeah and not forgetting the gorgeous smell - guaranteed to put a zing in your step!
Ive used this for ages, but I've swapped to Goth juice sinceI had my hair cut shorter. This is so good, I now use Lush hair gels over anything else. You can get scrunch it in and it stays there with no freaky side effects! BRILLIANT! Weller would be proud :) Best of all it doesnt make your hair all sticky and greasy, it keeps it really fresh. You can use only a little bit each time and it lasts for ages. And another thingI found, if your hair suddenly goes static use a tiny weeny bit of King of the Mods and it'sback to normal.Oh and it smells really gorgeous. It makes your hair smell healthy, whichsounds a bit odd but its true.Oh and the name. Great choice from a great show. :)My hair's best friend!
I haven't tried this but I've had it recommended to me by a fellow Boosher!I don't use ANY kind ofhair gel or w/e but this and Goth Juice do sound particularly LUSH! =DBTW:Lush, I have a question...Did you get the rights to use these names by the Mighty Boosh?! =]
I Think The Name Of This Product Alone Is A Winner For MeI Must Admit Goth Juice Is A Little BetterBut King Of The Mods Just Reminds Me Of One Of The Best Episodes Of The Mighty BooshAnd Is Amazing
This Monsterous Haircare Product Smells Awful And When Dry Makes Hair Look Lank And Greasy. I Was Not Happy And Got A Refund. I Tried This 3 Times Each Time The Outcome Was Worse. So All I Say Is NO WAY! Its King Of Grease!
The King of the Mods is really good for my hair because i have really curly hair and when it is dry it goes a bit mad so when i put it on i style it into shape and it keeps for the whole day!! so now i feel more confident about leaving my hair down during the day!!! Thank you sooooo much Lush!!!!!
One of the people at the lush in chester suggested either this or goth juice for my curly, frizzy hair, but goth juice smelt gross- a bit like sweat! This smelled gorgeous though, like lime skittles! I washed my hair this morning and scrunched it into my wet hair. When my hair was dry my hair was so soft and my curls were lovley and not all hard and crispy like with the john frieda curl stuff i usually use! I hate that horrible chemical feel when you put loads of mousse or gel on your hair! I thought it wouldn`t work very well because it`s natural, but i had hardly any frizz, and my hair smells so lovley i just smell it all the time!!! My only complaint is tht its really runny, so when i open the pot it drips everywhere, but maybe i`m just a bit clumsy! lol! Thanks lush! xxxxx
Only a fingerfull applied to the ends of your hair mends them and make them shine - a plus!!! NEVER apply anywhere close to roots. You'll need to wash you hair again.
I bought King Of The Mods for my boyfriend, but I have ended up using it myself every day too! You do have to make sure you rub it in well and comb it through or you can end up with the wet-look-hairgel-covered-teenage-boy look. I towel dry my hair and rub King Of The Mods in, then comb it through. I then stop half way through blow-drying and give it another comb to seperate the bits that look clumpy. That way it doesn't stick together too much but it gives a great hold.
Is it me or does 'king of the mods' smell a bit like skittles?≪3
Must admit, i was a bit sceptical of lush til me girlfriend dragged me in.. but now im hooked! This stuff not only makes my hair look tons better, but the smell is to die for.. top stuff!
I went in to a lush shop today and was given some as a tester to try as there was none in stock at the moment. Its brilliant, my hair has gone from dry and dull to soft, shiny and gorgeous. I have to buy some now!
I bought this hair gel with a plan! I have mid lenght quite thin very straight hair, hardly any volume. The lack of volume can usually be solved witha good blowdry but I am in envy of all you lucky folks with lustrous curly hair. I use curling tongs sometimes, but it takes ages and is not something you can do every day. The heat is also pretty bad for your hair. So I took some King of the Mods, dabbed a little in my hair while wet, before blowdrying. This helped even more with volume, but then, after blowdrying, with the ends still a little damp, I rubbed more all through the lenghts of my hair (still not too much) and then twisted and twisted my hair into a really tight bun and kept it there with an elastic band. Used the hairdryer to heat it a bit, then left it for half hour while geting ready for work. Took my hair down before I left and (Not only was I engulfed in the amazing smell of lime but) voila, instant curls. A bit of a brush and hairspray and ready to go. Thank you lush!!!!!!
Another lush product with a name from the genius mighty boosh !!!i am either gettin this or goth juice!if u go on the usa site its funny how there are practically no (last counted only one) reviews mentioning the mighty boosh! lolso many things they didnt come up with... lush, topshop, the mighty boosh, theIT crowd,Russell Brand, The Kooks YAY!!!
I admit I was skeptical... I sniffed all the gels in the shop and was somewhat dubious, particularly as I don't use gel in general as it is so sticky, heavy and nasty and it reminds me of teenage boys... Of course I shouldn't have been since everything else I use from Lush is way better than any other product. Anway, I was on hols in Seattle and found a Lush there since I was getting low on my shampoo and conditioner. As once does, I got a bit carried away, spent too much money and got this free as a result (couldn't really complain to be honest!)This was about a month ago and since I got it I haven't used any other products on my hair. It is so versatile... If I'm going straight I use it as blow-dry gel, if I decide not to blow-dry it calms the frizz perfectly. It holds any up dos. It's so smooth, smells amazing and keeps hair neat but flexible. It doesn't build up and brushes out easily. I use it on wet and dry hair with great effects either way....
using this on wet hair before you blow dry and then again as a serum to seal any splits or frizz is perfection. gorgeous citrus smell too. you'll be gracing the cover of 'mod monthly' in no time.
something to help my curly hair look good and frizz free. I really wanted to quit using straighteners but worried that my hair would be like a birds nest. King of the Mods is great. I like the fresh citrus smell too! It isn't cheap but I think it'll last at least 6 months ass
Just from the name "King of the Mods" it has to be from the mighty boosh. go Mod Wolves
I thought I would give this a try instead of my usual curl scruncher or curl mousse wich makes my hair feel notty and crusty the next day. I have never used a hair gel on my hair before but as I am a big Lush nut I thought I would give it a try. Oh my god it is amazing and I now have shiny unfrizzy defined curls leaving my hair smooth and tangle free. Just use a tiny pea sized amount and smooth through hair for the best curly hair in town. Thankyou lush
I do find it expensive though, one tub of 100 grams lasts me 2-3 washes and I wish they will make bigger tubs to make it more economical. saying that, it is worth every penny :o)
use on damp hair as a curl cream/serum and allow to dry naturally for frizz free defined hair
